Free Candy
Performance as a part of campaign Stop Dirty Money by Re-set collective
20.5.2025 Prague, Czech Republic
Technical collaboration Von Saten
On Tuesday, May 20, I gorged myself on money to the point of nearly vomiting. Together with @reset_platform , a climate justice group, we gave away free money to visitors and talked about fosil capitalism. We served passers-by CZK 5 billion notes made of edible paper with the image of oligarch Daniel Křetínský, who got rich from coal mining. Why five billion? Because 20 May was the due date of a loan worth 200 million euros, approximately five billion crowns, for Daniel Křetínský’s EP Infrastructure. Although Komerční banka pretends to be a sustainable company that cares about the future, it doesn’t mind feeding the oligarch Křetínský. By extracting coal and gas, he is exacerbating the climate crisis that threatens the future of us all. He is polluting drinking water, profiting from high energy prices, destroying the countryside with landfills, siphoning off subsidies and threatening democracy by influencing the media. When we handed out candy, we went to symbolically return one five-billion-dollar bill to @komercka Will Komercka refinance the loan, or will it finally stop fattening the coal miner?
