The exhibition Where Are the Lions? / Ubi sunt leones? looks into a phenomenon of human fascination for overcoming physical and psychological limits through adventures, extreme sports, and explorative expeditions. The title of the exhibition itself, being derived from the cartographic description of unexplored territories (Hic sunt leones) reminds us that it is easier today to climb the highest mountain of the Earth than to find an unexplored place on our planet.

The exhibition attempts to develop a story of artists-explorers from both historical and contemporary perspectives. It follows different motivations and objects of their fascinations. At the same time, the exhibition draws attention to the dilemma of today’s adventurers who want to satisfy their romantic lust for exploring new sites and being at the same time responsible for our ecosystem. The title of the show therefore can be also seen as a metaphoric question: where are today’s „lions“ and their unknown territories?

The project connects international and Czech artists combining loaned artworks with works commissioned especially for the exhibition during the first half of 2020.

Posunutá premiéra filmu proběhne 11.9. v Kasárnách Karlín od 20:00 v rámci festivalu Jeden svět 2020.

Jak by se lopocení homo sapiens jevilo mimozemské inteligenci? Co by mimozemšťané říkali na lidské zacházení s naší planetou? A čím by se v péči o přírodu vymykali zrovna Češi?

Environmentální esej stylizovaná do dialogu dvou výzkumníků z jiné planety sleduje život na Zemi, konkrétně na malém kusu území uprostřed Evropy, v krajině zvané Česko. Živočeši se nestarají o svou přírodu zrovna příkladně a pro návštěvníky z vesmíru je až nepochopitelné, jak bezohledně lidstvo zachází s tím, co ho obklopuje a tvoří, a dělá tak ve jménu obchodu a zisku několika úspěšných podnikatelů. Tvůrci se na problematiku klimatické změny pokoušejí dívat s nadhledem a humorem, nezapřou ale, že jde o závažný fenomén. Pokud se nemáme stát pouhou fosílii, je nutné začít jednat.

Projekt Paměť města mapuje novodobé proměny pěti pražských čtvrtí. Smíchov, Holešovice, Žižkov, Karlín, Staré a Nové město. Pět pražských čtvrtí a nespočet příběhů, ukrytých v jejich ulicích. Na doby, kdy si ve vnitroblocích domů na Václaváku děti hrávali fotbal a staří lidé prodávali ručně malované pohlednice, můžeme už jen vzpomínat. Stejně tak na “černou duši Karlína”, dělnické Holešovice, Žižkov plný barů a bouřlivého studentského života nebo na Smíchov, kde vedle sebe spokojeně žili lidé různých společenských tříd a bruslit se chodilo na nezastavěný, dostupný břeh Vltavy. Přestavby čtvrtí, gentrifikace, nedostupnost bydlení a masový turismus ale dnes všechno mění…

Frutti di Mare – mořské plody neboli síť plná plastových lahví zavěšená nad pražskou Dlouhou třídou před klubem Roxy – je jednou z nejnovějších instalací vizuálního umělce Vladimíra Turnera. Upozorňuje na problémy recyklace a téma lidské zodpovědnosti vůči krajině a přírodním zdrojům. „Je to aktivistická věc, která má zároveň trashovou estetiku ladící s tím, co turismus udělal s okolím Staroměstského náměstí. Na instalaci reaguje spousta lidí, kteří normálně za kulturou nechodí, například senioři venčící psy anebo opilí turisti,“ konstatoval ve Vizitce.

Ekologii začal Vladimír Turner tematizovat přirozeně. „Jde to dohromady s tím, co jsem dělal dřív, s mými krajinářskými pracemi, se svobodou veřejného prostoru,“ vysvětluje.

Zásadní zlom a ponor do problematiky přišel před čtyřmi lety během projektu Na pomezí samoty, při kterém čeští i zahraniční autoři zkoumali otázky proměny krajiny a provázanost společnosti s přírodou. Tehdy Vladimír Turner cestoval spolu s kolegy – umělci kolem severočeských uhelných pánví a poslouchal odborné výklady.

V postapokalyptické krajině Mostecka se odehrává také půlhodinový Turnerův snímek Za uhlenou oponou, který přibližuje aktivity angažované skupiny Limity jsme my. „Tamní krajina je velkolepý landartrový projekt, je to ta největší landartová instalace od rypadel strojů a pánů v saku, kteří to nařídili,“ odpověděl na otázku co se s terénem v severních Čechách očima umělce děje. Film ale zároveň zachycuje „aroganci moci a setkání aktivistů s policisty, kteří v novodobém brnění ukazují svou sílu.“Fridays for Future

Můj film „Až budu velká, chci být naživu“ se bude promítat na festivalu Mobilis: V tomto pásme prezentujeme umelcov a umelkyne, o ktorých sme presvedčení/é že ich umelecká imaginácia a prax nabúrava súčasne spoločensko-politické a ekonomické nastavenie. Zároveň ich umenie môže prinášať nový spôsob uvažovania a zážitku o radikálne odlišnej budúcnosti. The 8th annual Public Space Art Festival entitled Kukačka has set its ground in the space between revolution and escape and oscillates between two frontier approaches whose stimulus is inner discontent. In the first approach, disagreement transforms into a form of public gesture. The gesture, which is urgently political, since it stems from the desire to adjust the constellation of the outer world, so that it conforms to the image of its bearer. In the other approach, the world of actions is reduced to a narrow space of the alternative world. If the person cannot or does not want to actively participate in the functioning of the outer world, he/she creates his/her own world, which can be both a continuation of the “childhood fence” and an autonomous piece of art, building its own rules and regulations, because the real world is too disturbing. In terms of its content, the Festival follows the space between the revolutionary and Kundera’s “lyricist,” for whom the formless world becomes arranged, regular, clear, and beautiful, grasped into the rhythm and rhyme of poetry at once. First of all, however, this year would like to accentuate the well-known and, at the same time, persistent feeling that something always slips through our fingers. Life is Different Elsewhere.

Jako pichlavé upozornění na protiklad ke snaze aktivně řešit viditelné problémy současného světa připravil speciálně pro Noc vědců a prostor atria Právnické fakulty performanci umělec Vladimír Turner, který svým pojetím poukazuje na aroganci několika málo procent lidí – de facto vlastníků planety. Pokud nejste na Guestlistu, po červeném koberci se jen tak neprojdete. Performance Guestlist se bude odehrávat po celou dobu trvání akce a zatáhne do hry i překvapené návštěvníky Noci vědců. Z této performance vznikne v průběhu noci experimentální dokument.

The international group exhibition focuses on the topic of climate change and the related climate crisis, which is the biggest challenge of the present. It is becoming increasingly evident that continuing in the current way of life leads to the destruction of the planet and to endangering the survival of humanity. Quick action is required to halt this threat. It is a challenge concerting us both as individuals and as a society. Preservation of life on Earth requires systematic changes in all human areas and activities: in energy production, food production, waste management, transport or housing, changes in legislation, and the financial system. The exhibition is a celebration of these changes. A new society is emerging in ruins and rubble of these changes. The collapse of a dysfunctional system provides room for new ideas and solutions. The solutions are based on the ethical relationship of man to nature. In this process, art’s task is symbolic: to inspire, ask questions, but also experiment with answers. And also to remind that activity is the best remedy for negativity.

Obrazově unikátní pohled na události prvního českého Klimakempu v roce 2017, které do místního prostředí vnesly téma občanské neposlušnosti a přímé akce v boji za klimatickou spravedlnost. Projekci reflexivního doku-akčního snímku Vladimíra Turnera, výtvarníka a absolventa FAMU, doplní jeho čerstvé zachycení fenoménu Fridays for Future natočené s českými představiteli během aktivního jara 2019.

The project „Die Verwandlung – Borders are Vacillating“ by Iris Andraschek and Hubert Lobnig inquires into the transformation of borders, the fall of the Iron Curtain, the demolition of borders, the Schengen Agreement and years of flight around 2015. Artists develop site-specific works shown on the existing displays and in the former boder control strip in the outer area. In addition, the artists have the former, now privatized border house available for one month. Some of my older films will be shown during the film programm at 17:30 – 19:00 in the Centre for the Future in Slavonice.
The opening of the project will start at 15:00 at the Austrian border side, 5 Minutes away from Slavonice.

Jak se proměnilo vnímání přírody umělci? A jaký dopad budou mít výzvy kulturních instituci k vyhlášení stavu klimatické nouze?“

I will take part in Project Space Festival Berlin this year. My intervention will happen on 5th June 2019(location tba). It will start as performance moving around the city and end as an site- specifi installation. The PROJECT SPACE FESTIVAL BERLIN invites visitors on a month-long trip through Berlin’s independent art scene. During the Festival, Project Spaces will open their doors for a new event occurring every day of August.

Each participating space will realize one event within a 24-hour period. The program of the festival is as diverse as its participating project spaces.

With a broad selection of participants the PROJECT SPACE FESTIVAL BERLIN provides a momentary slice of the city’s independent scene, offering a platform to consider the idea of  what the term ‘project space’ can mean. Usually what project spaces share in common is what they are not – not a white cube, not institutional, usually not commercial. Project spaces typically focus on artistic experimentation, spark dialogue, nurture local art communities and are a labor of love of those who run it. Creatively working with limited funds the project spaces are seismographs of cultural trends, operating under conditions of simultaneous freedom and fragility.

It is the PROJECT SPACE FESTIVAL BERLIN’s intention to put the work of its hosts in the foreground and celebrate with the public the ever-shifting independent art scene in Berlin. Over time, the program of the Project Space Festival can function as a window to different approaches and concepts of Project Spaces as considered by the jury and team each year.

Tohle prožívám docela intenzívně, a abych se nezbláznil, tak si v nějakých chvílích tenhleten morál v sobě cenzuruju. Protože já cestuju hodně. A letadlem lítám hodně a sem jsem přijel autem. Ale cílem by nemělo být, abychom si řekli, že nebudeme cestovat. Cíl je, tlačit na dopravní průmysl, aby začal fungovat ekologicky, abychom mohli cestovat a ne se vyřadit z provozu tím, že přestanem. Možná je to už druh alibismu, který jsem si v sobě vytvořil. Ale tys tu otázku začala těmi farmářskými trhy, které jsme používali jako zástupné téma. Tak v tom jsem si docela dost jistý, že zodpovědný konzum je furt jenom konzum, který slouží výdělku peněz. A pokud bude společnost nastavená tak, že má vydělávat peníze a má být nějaký ekonomický růst, tak je mi úplně jedno, že tenhle ekonomický růst bude ekologicky ekonomický a zelený, protože furt bude společnost vykořisťovat a ničit přírodu, jenom trošku zodpovědněji. A my budeme mít pocit, že děláme něco dobře, ale korporace a státy se jenom přeorientují na jiný způsob dělání byznysu. Peníze zůstanou v rukou těch samých lidí, kteří budou mít nadále v rukou naše životy.

Zima. Období úzkosti, strachu o přežití, ale i odpočinku po zemědělském roce, bilancování a kontemplace, dětské radosti z prvního sněhu, naděje Vánoc. Klid a neklid bílé. Jedno téma, různé národnosti, různá období od 19. století po současnost ukáží, že jakkoli v umění panuje různost, je zaklenuto vyšší shodou a obrazy z tolik odlišných dob, prostředí a od tolika a tolik odlišných autorů spolu mohou komunikovat a vypovídat různými uměleckými jazyky v symbolické shodě o jednom.

In the dismal post-apocalyptic landscape of the coal basin in the northern part of the Czech Republic, through an artistically conceived film, we learn about an environmental movement whose motto is „change the system, not the climate“. Why these ecological activists are being labeled extremists is, for the film director, one of the examples of how the state is creating the enemy, thereby strengthening its own power.

The Brno exhibition Angry Planet II: Operation Continues is a follow-up to the Angry Planet show produced in 2017 by the National Technical Library and The Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. In recent years, geopolitical, intercultural and social clashes and conflicts have become key issues of newspaper articles, politology seminars and conferences, as well as public discussions. The media often convey worries about the outbreak of a new global war, yet the form of conflicts in today’s globalized and medially interconnected world has changed. These conflicts seldom take place on the borders between territories and are chiefly manifested inside the individual states and geopolitical units, in the metropolises of our civilization, in connection with civilization or cultural disregard, stereotypes, streams of migrants, etc. The spectacular presentations of conflicts in the media also distinctly influence the public opinion and often conceal the essence of the conflicts. The exhibition therefore strives to point out the broader context of the conflicts and its expression through contemporary art, while on the other hand it does not shun critical approaches and discussions about the different manifestations and forms of violence (including, for example, structural violence). The core of the exhibition are both newly created and existing artworks supplemented with selected artefacts associated with the issue of conflict.
Curators Milan Mikuláštík (NTL) and Milan Kreuzzieger (Centre of Global Studies, the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the CR) start with the assumption that the majority of current global and local conflicts should be viewed from a wider cosmopolitan perspective rather than from the international, national or local one.

I as invited to Public SPace Days in Chisinau where I will make several events: movie screenings, lectures, workshops and interventions. Oberliht Association and its partners invite everyone to save the date in your calendar for the third edition of the Public Space Days program. The event will take place between May 22-27, 2018 in Chisinau and Tiraspol. The topic of this edition is Culture as a Common Good and beginning with this year, #ZSP2018 becomes a biennial of art in public space and will be organized every two years.
The goal of the “Public Space Days” is to offer, to different stakeholders and different representatives of the public, a platform for discussion whose aim is to raise awareness and take action on topics and initiatives concerning democratization, protection and opening the public space to citizens through art.
This year’s edition will expand and will include a series of exchanges between the inhabitants of both banks of the Dniester, bringing together artists, cultural managers, researchers, journalists and other cultural operators from Chisinau, Bender, Tiraspol and other cities.
#ZSP2018 program includes an international conference, artistic residencies, creative workshops, a series of concerts and music performances, guided tours, interventions and exhibitions in public spaces.

Město 21. století definuje hlavně efektivita, rychlost, vizualita, koordinace, dohled, úzkost a možnost kontroly. Jakou roli zde hraje, nebo může hrát volné umění? Pro interdisciplinární uvažování o městě je koncept tzv. heterotopie výzvou: jiná, „divná“ místa a zóny mohou být skutečné, trvalé, imaginární, dočasné, znepokojující. Má volné umění ve veřejném prostoru povahu jinakosti, nebo jde zejména o problematiku designu a ornamentu?

Three articles showing my project Exodus which talk about mystery of abandoned blue tent with no inhabitants in Köln…
„Mehrere Tage sorgte ein unbewohntes blaues Zelt an dem kleinen See an der Bus- und Bahnhaltestelle Ebertplatz für Irritationen bei vorbeilaufenden Passanten. Einige Anwohner hatten eine Kunstinstallation oder eine Protestaktion vermutet.“

Nová kniha ProLuka pod vršovickým nebem mapuje šestiletou existenci (2012-2017) ojedinělého projektu venkovní Galerie ProLuka. Tento netradiční výstavní prostor se nacházel na malém zanedbaném „území nikoho“ mezi vršovickými ulicemi Krymská a Ruská, jenž vznikl zbouráním bloku domů v 70. a 80. letech minulého století. Galerii zaměřenou na prezentaci dočasných děl zde iniciovali a po celou dobu kurátorsky vedli Denisa Václavová, kulturní organizátorka a dramaturgyně festivalu 4+4 dny v pohybu, a sochař Krištof Kintera, oba rovněž autoři publikace. Za dobu své existence se v ProLuce představilo více než 22 site-specifických projektů současných českých umělců.

Tento rok vedu hostující ateliér CAS na FAMU. 25. 10. zde budu mít od 19:00 autorskou přednášku v učebně U1 v rámci cyklu Open Eye. OpenEye17 je cyklus přednášek hostujících teoretiků, umělců a pedagogů na témata současného umění a nových technologií. Přednášky jsou určeny pro studenty FAMU, studenty jiných vysokých škol a pro veřejnost. Konají se v anglickém jazyce, nebo jsou tlumočeny do angličtiny.

16.8. proběhne benefiční večer pro skejty do Barmy a projekce mého krátkého videa, které jsem tam tento rok natočil, když jsme vezli zásilku skejtového vybavení pro místní scénu. Sejdem se v Containallu na Malé Straně na benefiční večer na podporu skateboardingu v Barmě!

My movie Funeral is now online! Please play FULLSCREEN!

Through performances in the post-industrial landscape of the Most Basin, the filmmaker addresses the consequences of exploiting natural resources. Live tableaux, in which symbolic funerals for the devastated landscape – paradoxically full of strange unnatural beauty – are held, are a critical commentary on how we deal with the natural environment.

Dnešní doba nás často vrhá do situace bez dominantního společensko-politického názoru, ke kterému by bylo možné se myšlenkově přimknout. Časy velkých ideologických konceptů jsou dávno za námi ale přesto je na nich něco, kvůli čemu se k nim opakovaně vracíme. Chybí nám ideologie, o kterou se lze opřít? Nebo možnost společného sdílení názorových proudů?

Plenty of my older works(1Gb memorystick, Saver, Funeral, Spring cleaning..) and a brand new project „Wellness“ are shown at a group show about urban and natural landscape in the broadest socio– cultural context. The concept of the exhibition is based on the conviction that a sharp line between nature and culture is outdated. What is natural and what has been created by man form a single complex entity. Nature bears in itself manifestations of social and economic structures….

The international group exhibition “Planet B – 100 ideas for a new world” engages with the radical changes to our planet – and looks for a plan B, for the future we are all dreaming of. From 2. 6.  until 31. 8. 2016 .
