“M for man: future occupants of coffins, who are still allowed to walk around for a while and make all sorts of practical jokes.” This is one of the many conceptual definitions coined by the writer and editor Herbert Müller-Guttenbrunn (1887-1945).
The booklover’s gem The Anarchistic Amateur’s Art & Alphabet brings together around 50 of his astute, whimsical and often highly topical „aphorisms, maxims and reflections“ with just as many works by visual artists. The selection is based on the existence of anarchistic elements in the individual works. And thereby follows a thought by Horst Stowasser: “Certainly more people are ‘anarchists’ than just those who call themselves so. Many just don’t know.”
